The History of LAHRA

History, Mission and Past Presidents
Mission
“Our mission is to provide a forum for education and networking among area human resource professionals, to advance the HR profession and to help our members grow professionally.”

HISTORY

LAHRA was established in 2006 by a group of area HR professionals who were looking for local networking and support.  Since then the group has risen to over 75 members and continues to grow. LAHRA is an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). LAHRA has received many awards including the Superior Merit Chapter Award from SHRM.

LAHRA prides itself on offering quality speakers at its monthly program meetings, with an emphasis on topics which are approved for HRCI and SHRM recertification credits. In addition, the organization looks for opportunities to contribute to the community through related volunteer efforts, and supports the national organization, the Society for Human Resource Management, through fundraising efforts for its foundation. LAHRA is linked with its sister chapters in Detroit, Lansing and Ann Arbor, and occasionally sponsors joint meetings and or events with these chapters.
